Trex© is Beautiful Not! It Gets Ugly & Spotty!
Trex© Porch - House 1
Looks like a Trex© advertisement! But this is how it looked soon after installation!

My next door neighbor had essentially the same problem. That said, the building supply company that provided his Trex©  product went to bat for him by contacting the company directly. Ultimately a representative flew here and examined the deck. Subsequently the deck was cleaned and all of the spots disappeared. Within three weeks the spots returned.

The company next arranged to have the deck cleaned a second time and then a sealant was applied to the deck. Within three weeks the spots again returned.

The building supply company replaced a small number of boards from a different lot of Trex©  decking. Nine weeks later that product is still clean and shows no evidence of spotting (see last three pictures below). One would conclude from this that the original decking is somehow defective as it spots and the new batch does not.

Trex© recently contacted my neighbor and told him they would not do anything to help him with this problem. So much for all but maintenance free decking from Trex©!
