Trex Company with headquarters in Winchester, Virgina is "the country's largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking, railing and fencing products, marketed under the brand name Trex©" sells decking products. On their Company website, as well as in printed materials, they present their products in fairly direct and clear language. Under a section labeled Why you will love it they enumerate that the product is "Easy Maintenance, Fade Risistant, Stain Resistant and (has) Scratch Resistance. "Simply clean up with soap and water". In another section; See How Trex Transcend, Well, Transcends The Competition they contend that the product "Offers unsurpassed beauty & effortless performancy", has "Enhanced mold resistance", "Does not need sanding, painting or staining" and "Care and cleaning: soap & water". Clearly Trex© knows how to promote their products!
Trex© places the Limited Residential Warranty in a more obscure part of their website and at a font size that would be difficust for someone 40-50 years old to read. It's interesting that they use larger fonts to help sell the product while using small fonts to let the public know the various reasons that Trex© would be unwilling to help out a dissatisfied customer! Now what do you think that is all about?
A nationwide settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit in which the plaintiffs allege that certain Trex© composite decking and railing material is susceptible to surface flaking. This suit involved owners of Trex© decking and railing materialmanufactures at Trex's© Fernley, Nevada Plant between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2007. It's interesting that Trex© manufactured and sold defective product for six (6) years while mostly ignoring the complaints of their customers. Sort of puts me in mind of what's going on now!
The purpose of this website is to bring together people who have unknowingly purchased Trex© products that are defective. If you would like to be added to this list then please fill in the Trex© lawsuit form. There are no costs to you for putting your name on the list nor are you obligated to participate in any lawsuit that we look forward to filing. We appreciate your help and participation.
